Meet Annie

Hey, I’m Annie!

I tutor Maths, English and Science at primary school level. I can also offer dyslexia support, for example help with specific strategies for those pesky spellings!

As a trained teacher with a psychology degree, I am especially fond of supporting students who are finding learning challenging or boring. It’s amazing how much some extra support and understanding changes the path of a young person’s education.

I love being able to share knowledge and help nurture minds of the future. Seeing that ‘ah ha’ moment and a smiley face is so rewarding!

My style of tutoring is fun, thought provoking and engaging. I try to include games and movement in my teaching whilst asking questions to encourage children’s curiosity, understanding and growth mindset. Praise and reward is a big must!

And some other important questions…

  • What’s your background? Before tutoring, I graduated university with a 1st class psychology degree, and went on to train and work as a primary school teacher. I have been teaching for over 5 years and now, alongside tutoring, my psychology background has led me to set up my own mental health business.
  • What’s in your fridge? Chicken and lots of fruit and veggies!
  • What are your hobbies? I love all things horses and visit my childhood pony, Mickey, twice a day. I enjoy baking but I don’t always follow a recipe (I really should!) I like being outside come rain or shine, and am loving creating a flower patch in my garden.
  • What is a fun fact about you? Every time I see a magpie, I have to say hello or I believe it will bring me bad luck!
