Meet Josh

Hey, I’m Josh!

I tutor secondary level maths.

I tutor because I love passing on my knowledge of maths and numbers to other people. It’s a great feeling to see the moment when someone finally grasps a topic that they have been struggling with!

I’m currently in my third year of a four integrated masters degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Warwick.

I think it’s vital to adapt my style of tutoring to each student – as everyone is different and learns differently. Having recently been through school myself, I understand the importance of having a relatively informal style so that students feel they can approach me with questions.

Josh is a qualified tutor – completing the Qualified Tutor course ran by Julia Silver BA, QTS, NPQH. The course consisted of four workshops – covering key ideas in Safeguarding, Behaviour Management, Teaching and Learning, Special Educational Needs and Mental Health and Wellbeing.

And some other important questions…

  • What’s in your fridge? Chocolate and salad… I’ll leave you to decide which I prefer!
  • What are your hobbies? I like to try and keep fit, by running, walking and sometimes playing football. Although if I’m being honest I prefer watching football to playing it!
  • What is a fun fact about you? I can’t seem to go on holiday without a comical disaster following me, whether it’s being surrounded by aggressive dogs in Spain or being locked in the toilet on a boat in Greece!
"O's confidence and mental maths has really developed with Josh. Josh is always well prepared, sets additional work and adapts quickly if O can't quite get something. I would definitely recommend him"
