Meet Rebecca

Hey, I’m Bek!

I teach English and Maths topics, including SATs preparation, to 4 to 11 year olds. In addition to this, I provide question familiarisation lessons for the eleven plus tests, which includes: creative writing, comprehension, spelling, grammar, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.

Supporting students to feel more confident with their learning is such a privilege. Seeing this transformation and the smiles when they have finally ‘got’ something in their learning makes it all worthwhile.

Talking to students about what they would like to learn is very important. My lessons include fun, games, discussions and they go at a pace that suits each individual pupil.

And some other important questions…

  • What’s your background? I gained my English and Education Studies degree, plus my PGCE (Primary) with Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 specialisms, as well as my Qualified Teacher Status, at Bishop Grosseteste College, Lincoln. Since 2004, I have worked as a class teacher, a supply teacher and a one to one/small group intervention teacher within schools. Currently, I am solely an online tutor.
  • What’s in your fridge?  A yummy curry (I may have tried a little bit already) that my children and I made at the weekend. We have food allergies in our household, so have to make most foods from scratch. It is great fun though!
  • What are your hobbies?  Reading, drawing, painting, playing the piano, walking, visiting the countryside, seeing family and friends and learning more! .
  • What is a fun fact about you? When I was younger, I worked in a children’s play area and sometimes had to dress up as a dinosaur to promote the pier where I was employed.
