Meet Steph

Hey, I’m Steph!

I tutor primary English, Maths, Science as well as History and Geography.

I tutor because I want every child to reach their potential. I want them all to feel able to make mistakes in a safe environment and learn from this. Everyone is different so everyone needs different support which can only be given through tutoring.

Laughter is at the centre of everything. A lesson should involve games, laughter and an opportunity for each child to ignite their passion for the topic. My sessions are always interactive and fun, with the support and challenge appropriate for each student. I focus on growth mindset so children know if they are finding something tricky it is simply ‘I can’t do it yet.’

And some other important questions…

  • What’s your background? I studied History at University before going on to complete my Primary PGCE. Since then I have been a primary teacher for almost 15 years. My specialism is Key Stage 2. I have also worked as a youth worker.
  • What’s in your fridge? My fridge always needs to be packed with fresh fruit and veg. I love cooking when I am not tutoring so there is always an unusual ingredient tucked away for my next concoction.
  • What are your hobbies? I love to travel, sing and cook. My daughter and I share a passion for the musical theatre so we go whenever there is an opportunity.
  • What is a fun fact about you? When I am not tutoring, I run cookery classes for children.
