Meet Katie R

Hey, I’m Katie!

I am the Chief Chatter at Tutor In A Box. I organise bookings, make phone calls, send emails, manage our social media, and so much more!

I also tutor English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning to children in Key Stage 2 and I am an experienced Key Stage 2 teacher.

I love tutoring because it allows me to really get to know each child, and to help them to grow in both confidence and knowledge. I especially love being part of those ‘lightbulb moments’ when a tricky concept suddenly clicks.

When tutoring, I like to keep things interactive and fun, and to make sure that the sessions are tailored to the child’s needs and interests to keep them engaged and allow them to progress.

And some other important questions…

  • What’s your background? I studied a BA in English Literature and French at the University of Sheffield and then completed a PGCE in Primary Education at the University of the West of England. Since 2009, I have worked as a Key Stage 2 class teacher at various schools in Bristol and Birmingham, teaching classes in Year 3, Year 5 and Year 6, and also as a one-to-one teacher based within a primary school.
  • What’s in your fridge? Lots of cheese (I love cheese), some blueberries and some leftover orange and almond cake, which will definitely not last long!
  • What are your hobbies? I love baking, reading, visiting the theatre and going for long walks on the beach with my family and dog.
  • What is a fun fact about you? Before I went to university, I worked at a tourist attraction in the Lake District and had to dress up as Peter Rabbit a few times!
