Meet Lauren

Hey, I’m Lauren!

I am an experienced Maths tutor, helping children at both Primary and Secondary level.

I am enthusiastic and encouraging, believing that everyone deserves to thrive in Maths. Whether you just need a little extra push to get that higher grade, or have lost all confidence and need topics breaking down and explaining in a more manageable way.  I will help you gain the confidence that YOU CAN DO IT!

As a tutor, I want to inspire my students not to dread but to enjoy and learn to love Maths, as I always have. I enjoy catering to the individual learning needs of each child, using a range of methods to explain topics in a fun, approachable way.

And some other important questions…

  • What’s your background? I have a dual honours degree in Mathematics and Music from Keele University, and several years experience now as a Maths tutor.
  • What’s in your fridge? A salad bowl full of basil, mozzarella and orange/nectarine salad, (I like experimenting with different flavours, to make them a little more interesting), and always a big slab of Brie on hand!
  • What are your hobbies? I love learning new skills and information! Being a Cello and Saxophone teacher, I also enjoy spending time playing my instruments.
  • What is a fun fact about you? My Secondary Maths teacher told me not to bother taking the Higher Paper for GCSE as I’d never get more than a C grade. So I took the higher paper and got 98%. Then I got a degree in Maths… Now I enjoy maths so much, I’ve gone on to teach it. Put your mind to something and try as best as you can, and you might surprise yourself… never let others limit you!
