Meet Melissa

Hey, I’m Melissa!

I tutor Maths, English and Science to primary school aged students.

I tutor to enable children and young people to find their want to learn and to develop a growth mindset that will fill a child with a ‘can do’ attitude. I want to help students to build a strong foundation that will develop into lifelong learning, enabling them to reach their full potential. The difference you can make to children’s lives through tutoring, not only now but way into their future, is priceless.

My sessions are very much child led so their needs can be heard and met. My sessions are fun, interactive, fluid and inspiring. Remember, it is ok to get things wrong…this is how we learn! Each child I tutor will feel important and know that I am there to support them and be their biggest cheerleader.

And some other important questions…

  • What’s your background? I am a qualified primary school teacher and have worked in education for over 16 years; I have worked as a 1:1 teaching assistant, academic mentor and a tutor. These roles have provided me with a wealth of experience, learning so much working alongside other professionals within various roles. Over the years, I have been blessed to work with children with SEND and children from a range of backgrounds.
  • What’s in your fridge? Strawberries and raspberries as they are my favourite. However, whatever is in the fridge is not there for long as I have a large family!
  • What are your hobbies? I love walking, talking and singing. I can be found at a beach at any time of the year.
  • What is a fun fact about you? have 8 children, 3 grandchildren, a dog, 2 cats and some fish…we also had a snake and a lizard years ago!
