Meet Sarah B

Hey, I’m Sarah!

I am a qualified primary teacher and tutor children from Year 1 all the way up to Year 6 in English, Maths, reading and other subjects.

I have taught for just over 5 years and have experience in supporting Year 4 pupils with their end of year times-table checks, as well as leading Year 6 SATS Boosters.

I love tutoring as it allows me to get to know each child really well and make sure that every lesson is completely adapted to their needs and interests. I am passionate about providing all children with a high-quality education and instilling the belief that they can do anything they set their mind to!

In my lessons, I use lots of praise and encouragement to build confidence and develop a growth mindset. In turn, children feel safe enough to take risks and have a go at any challenges I throw their way. I have a fun, creative and interactive approach to teaching and love to use a variety of strategies such as video, images, games, code-breaking and even a bit of drama! My aim is to unlock every child’s full potential by making learning as engaging and purposeful as possible.

And some other important questions…

  • What’s your background? I have an Early Childhood Studies degree, which has given me in-depth knowledge of child development. I also have a Primary PGCE and chose the School’s Direct route. Both of my qualifications were awarded by Sheffield Hallam University.
  • What’s in your fridge? Egg custards – I’m obsessed!
  • What are your hobbies? I’ve just started archery, which I love. It makes me feel like Katniss from the Hunger Games! I also love exploring in my little camper van with my fiancé and dog. When I have time, I like to read. I particularly like suspense-filled mystery novels!
  • What is a fun fact about you? I spent a month teaching English in Thailand, which was an incredible experience! I may have eaten a maggot and a cockroach while I was there (something I love to share with children).
